Christmas 2005

Christmas is looking tricky this year because we don't have much cash in the till at the moment, which means we can't place a bunch of orders at the last possible minute the way we have done in past years. The situation may improve, though, and I will keep this page updated.

Deadlines are very different depending on whether your item is in stock or not. You can check on an item's in-stock status by going to the item's page (if you're looking at your shopping cart, click on the item's link).

In-Stock Deadlines

Generally, anything in stock can be shipped right up to the last moment; just allow enough time for it to get to you. We normally ship via USPS First Class for anything under a pound, and Priority for anything over. To estimate delivery times, go to the USPS Postage Calculator, enter a rough-guess weight (the weight generally does not affect the delivery time much except that items over a pound cannot be shipped via First Class, but must instead use Priority which is usually faster), and use 27705 as the "From ZIP Code". Add an extra day for processing on our side, to be safe. We can ship via USPS Express, and we will only charge for the actual postage.

Backorder Deadlines

These are deadlines for items not in stock.

Deadlines are broken down by manufacturer. If you have items in your cart, you can quickly tell which manufacturer they come from by looking at the first two letters of the catalog number.

• MT - The Mountain: Orders placed by November 28 will definitely reach you in time for Christmas. This deadline may be extended if the situation looks good.

  Details: I am currently expecting to place at one Mountain order in about a week to 10 days (I'll put this off until Nov. 28. in order to catch a few post-Thanksgiving orders). There may be another one after that if things go well.

• LB - Liquid Blue: No firm deadline yet; it will be after the Mountain deadline.

All other manufacturers are looking iffy at this point. I need to place orders with Earth Creations (EC), SunDog (SD), Zion Rootswear (ZR), but there isn't enough money in the till to place more than one manufacturer order simultaneously -- so they have to wait in line, which means after Liquid Blue, which is already cutting into December. Zion Rootswear sometimes takes up to 3 weeks to deliver, so that's already probably too late. If orders before that generate enough surplus, however, I will be able to place Zion's order sooner.

• SD - SunDog is usually pretty quick, so I'll probably do them next, and orders placed anytime before I order from them (rough guess: December 10 or so) will be deliverable by Christmas. If things don't go smoothly, however, I might have to postpone the SunDog order until after Christmas.
