And, as with 9/11, orders here have stopped abruptly; back then, it took about week for the next order to come in, and I don't expect recovery this time to be any quicker (especially with the likely ripple effects of the gas prices/shortage). Just know that we are still open for business and that if a week or two without orders is the worst that happens, we will count ourselves lucky.

It is simply impossible to say anything about the scenes of devastation now arriving from New Orleans and the Gulf Coast. We do have a spare bedroom we could offer as temporary lodging for one or two refugees, but as we're about 850 miles from New Orleans (and have 3 kids as well, which magnifies the importance of screening possible boarders), I don't know that there's anything we can do directly other than donate to the relief effort (which we have done).
